You can't rely on motivation.

The importance of discipline

Motivation < Discipline

I wanted to share something I’ve learned over time and while running my page.

Motivation will only get you so far. The dopamine your body releases will only get you rolling. It’s how you choose to react off Motivation to build the fuel that discipline takes. you can’t rely on dopamine to complete the job or continue your tasks appropriately.

I’m writing about this as I’ve been off of school and working like crazy putting in 80-hour weeks while being off working on other side projects. I’ve been feeling horrible recently but continue to work through that feeling and ultimately you build strength to keep pushing although you may not feel like working.

In the long run, discipline is more important than motivation because it builds habits and creates consistency. Motivation is great for getting started, but discipline keeps you going. To succeed, you need both, but you can’t depend on motivation alone. You need the discipline to stay committed and keep working, even on days when you don’t feel like it.
