Yesterday You Said Tomorrow.
Stop waiting and start taking action.
We’ve all been there. Setting an unrealistic goal at 3am, making promises to ourselves, and saying “I’ll start tomorrow.” And then tomorrow becomes next week, next month, and even next year. And before we know it, we’re stuck in the same place, wondering where all the time went…
Message of the day:
The truth is you’ve been putting that “thing” off for months now. There’s no way around it or any way you can sugar coat doing the “thing.” Reality is you just have to start.
1. The Power of Taking Action
I know what you are going through all too well. A couple years ago I always told myself that I’d start that business tomorrow. Or start going to the gym consistently tomorrow. And really go all in on achieving my goals tomorrow.
However, like many people, I never really took any “real” action. Nothing changed as months passed by, and I was stuck in a cycle of procrastination.
Then, all of a sudden something shifted.
I was indulging in a lot of business and self improvement podcasts and I was constantly told the importance of just starting. Not waiting for the perfect plan, or the perfect time, but simply just starting.
And a couple days later, I decided to just simply start.
In the moment, I obviously didn’t realize how important that was, but simply starting gave me all the momentum I needed.
2. Why Starting Creates Momentum
After committing to working on my goals, it was from that singular moment forward that I have been able to build what you see now on social media. Like previously stated, starting creates all the momentum you’ll ever need.
Here’s why:
Action fuels motivation: Many people believe that they need motivation to start, but in reality, motivation often follows once an action is taken. That being said, even taking the smallest of steps forward can make a goal seem easier to achieve.
Fear fades with experience: We tend to overthink and anticipate all the worst outcomes. However, once you get past the starting point, you realize everything you were afraid of were over exaggerated within your mind or even irrelevant to begin with.
Consistency is built through small wins: We all know the hardest part is starting. Once you push past the initial resistance, and you are able to see the positive feedback loop of the “thing” showing up and staying consistent becomes easier and easier.
3. Overcoming the Fear of Judgment
Something you might be facing when starting your “thing” is the fear of being judged. For me, being a content creator, I hesitated to post videos because I was worried of what other would think. I had thought like “What if someone I know sees this?” or “What if people judge me?”
What I realized however, is that the fear of judgment hindered me and in a way stopped me from achieving my goals.
If this is you right now, understand that anything you are worried about or fear will go away the minute you start. As previously said in “fear fades with experience” everything you were once afraid of is simply self-imposed and doesn’t really matter in the end.
By taking action, you begin to see that everything fades away. All the overthinking of what other people think and all the problems you think you’ll face begin to disappear.
And a little side note, the only real thing that matters, is your own opinion not the outsiders opinions.
MAIN TAKEAWAYS: Start Now
If you’re constantly stuck in the cycle of waiting for the “right time,” remember that : the perfect time doesn’t exist. The only way to break free from the cycle of procrastination is to take action.
For Example.
Want to get in shape? Start with 10 minutes of exercise today.
Thinking of starting a business? Do 10 minutes of research today
Want to become a content creator? Record something and upload it today without overthinking it.
Once you start, momentum will take over. The snowball effect is real, and before you know it, you’ll be looking back, and wishing you started sooner.
P.S. I’ll be launching my exclusive community within the next couple weeks. Be on the look out for an email to be the first to join.
As always, I'm wishing you nothing but the best.
Sincerely,
